Check out Grants by State
States provide financial help for student wanting to go to college. There are two types provided. One is a scholarship based on exceptional grades and the other is a grant based on the need of the applicant. Applying to the education department in the state in which legal residence is established would be the way to find these grants. To find a list of states go to College Financial Guide.
Look Into the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Program
Students with outstanding need for financial help may be eligible for grants from the Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant Program or the FSEOG. This is a federal program but is awarded by universities and colleges. The criteria are determined by the financial need as well as what types of other financial help is being provided and if the school has enough funds.
There are many more as well. The only way to find them is to research and research some more. The wide variety available to the student who wants to earn a degree will be found if the time is taken to search every available resource.
