Do you wish that you could keep your garage clean and have a place for everything in it? Keeping your garage and carport neat and tidy may not be high on your priority list but it is one thing that should demand your attention. Having a garage that is organized has great benefits, not only for your sanity, but you will also be able to find things that you need easily. Try some of these tips for keeping your carport and garage clean and organized, and you will wonder how you ever got along without doing it before.
Keeping it organized
I don't know about you but the task of trying to keep my garage clean and tidy can be difficult at times, especially when I'm not the only one using it. If it were just me using the garage and all the items stored in it, then it would be a piece of cake. But I'm not and it isn't!
Try using this little trick to help keep your garage organized and tidy. Put boundary lines on the garage floor for storing items, such as bikes, lawn mowers, and even your car. You can paint the boundary lines on the garage floor or use duct or painters tape. Just outline where each item is to be placed, so when it's time to put things away, each item has a designated spot and everything stays organized.
Before placing the boundary lines on the floor, empty the garage out of all the items that are stored on the floor, so you can get a better picture of where each boundary line should go. This will give you a better view of the garage floor and you will be able to make better use of the space.
Store extension cords
I have so many extension cords in my garage that sometimes it's very simple to let them get out of control, cluttering up my garage floor. Not only does it look really bad, I risk running them over with the car and damaging them. So I found a great way to store them and keep them of the floor.
I attached a large nail to the wall right above the outlet that I use to plug the extension cord into. So when I get done using the extension cord, all I have to do is roll it up and hang it on the nail. I don't even have to unplug it if I will be using it again in the near future. It's a great way to keep from losing them and keeping them off the floor for a more organized garage.
Checking the car lights
This trick worked great for me one time when I had to check my car signal lights and head lights, but nobody was home to help me. Instead of having someone stand in the back and front of your car to check to see if the lights are working correctly, you can do it yourself with mirrors.
Install a mirror in the back and front corners of your carport or garage. Make sure that you place them at the height that you can see your lights as you back out or pull in to the carport or garage. Now you will be able to see if your lights are working properly every time you take your car out. Thank those mirrors and this idea for not getting any tickets for a blown out signal light or broken headlight.
So if you always wanted a neat and organized garage or carport but didn't know exactly how to do it, then try these easy tips and it's as easy as done.

It's funny that having a garage these days is more for storage than parking a car. =)
