Tips for the Perfect Bath Experience

Kendra Dahlstrom
Baths are not only for children. Adults, women and men alike, use baths to sooth aching muscles or to relax after a hard day's work. Many people simply take a bath filled with hot water. However, did you know there are several things you can do to the bathwater to make it a more pleasurable experience? Bath additives can make a soothing bath turn into a transcendent experience.

Rose Petals
Rose petals aren't only for girly, romantic baths. Fresh rose petals have natural oils that leave skin extremely silky and soft. Also, the fragrance of the rose petals is calming on the mind. If men feel uncomfortable taking a bath filled with rose petals, don't worry, there are other bath additives that can make your skin feel smooth.

Add Oil
It sounds strange, but adding several tablespoons of vegetable oil to your bath can heal dry skin. Don't worry about purchasing expensive bath oils, because vegetable oil does the same job. Be sure that you allow your body to soak in the warm water for about 10 minutes before adding your oil. This allows your pores to open up and absorb the water first. Once the oil is added, it creates a barrier to the water so it cannot escape your skin.

Winter Bath
Some people need to take baths during the winter season to simply warm up after a cold day. If you add ground ginger to the bathwater, the feeling of warmth will intensify. A couple tablespoons of ginger should do the trick. However, be sure to slowly add the spice until you have reached your desired temperature. You may become too hot in your bath if you add too much ginger.

Summer Bath
If you thought bath's were only for the winter months, think again. You can still get the same relaxation benefits out of a bath in the summer without getting too hot. A cup of lemon juice in the bath water can make you feel fresh and clean. The lemon scent rejuvenates your mind and body. For an extra bonus, lemon juice also does wonderful things for your skin. It tightens and tones unwanted wrinkles.

Baths can be used for bathing, relaxation, warmth, and a number of other applications. However, your bath doesn't have to be as plain as simple hot water. Add oils, spices, and flower petals to your water for an extra zing.
