Tips for Perfect Mascara

Continuing on with "Tips For Perfect Nail Polish", here's Tips For Perfect Mascara. A lot of women wear mascara every day, I know that I do! Mascara makes your lashes look longer, thicker and glamorous, but it can be really tricky to apply properly. It's also annoying when you smudge your mascara and ruin all your eyeshadow. Well, not anymore!

Before you even apply your mascara, what type are you using? If you apply your mascara every day, you'd better be sure that your mascara is high quality and not damaging your eyelashes. Look for mascaras that are paraben free and contain ingredients like collagen or keratin that help to nourish hair. High quality mascara will protect your lashes from breaking and falling out.

Tips:

  • When applying mascara, gently pull up the area around your eyes to expose all of your eyelashes, even the tiny ones in the corner. hold up your eye with one hand while applying your mascara with the other.
  • Brush the mascara wand over your eyes in a left to right zig-zag pattern. This will deposit a whole lot more mascara on your lashes so they look full and dark.
  • Using mascara on your bottom lashes isn't really necessary unless you have very short lashes (I do!). But the best way to apply mascara on bottom lashes is to hold the wand over your bottom lashes and then blink to 'stamp' the mascara onto your lashes. This only works for the middle part, comb mascara onto inner and outer corners as usual.
  • To avoid getting any mascara onto your skin, hold a business card behind your skin while applying the mascara.
  • If you've accidentally got a bit of mascara onto your face or all that eyeshadow you spent ages applying, don't immediately try to rub it off. You'll just rub mascara all over your face. Instead, wait until it dries and just scratch or wipe it off your skin. It should just fall off!
  • If you've smudged mascara on your eyelids or under your bottom lashes, it's hard to remove them with your fingers without smudging most of it away. Use a cotton tip soaked in makeup remover to remove the mascara without touching your lashes.
  • Brush your mascara from the bottom of your lashes up to help them to curl naturally.
  • Never curl your lashes after applying mascara, or they might snap off! Always curl them before.
  • For clump-free lashes, use an eyelash comb or a small clean mascara wand to slowly brush through your lashes and remove any excess mascara.
  • For long lasting, smudge proof mascara light dust your lashes with translucent powder or mineral powder. You'll have long lasting mascara for ages!

Nowadays there are about a million different types of mascara, volumizing, curling, lengthening and also mousse, vibrating, waterproof, primer and tube types! You've just got to see which one works best for you. Good luck, I hope this helps!
