Tips for Planning a Successful Halloween Party

Halloween Party Ideas

Halloween is always fun. It's the one time of year that everyone can dress up in silly, crazy or scary costumes. Throwing a Halloween party is a great way to spend time with your friends and family.

Halloween Party Invitations
You can choose an invitation that goes with your theme. If it is just a basic costume party, then you can just use a spooky Halloween invitation.
Your invitation should contain all the information for your Halloween party.

  • Make sure you list:
  • Date and time of the party.
  • The theme of the party.
  • The place and directions for the party.
Halloween Party Theme

You can choose a theme for your Halloween party. Some great theme ideas are medieval, cartoon characters, or animals. You could also choose a decade and have everyone dress in clothes from that time period.

If you decide not to do a themed Halloween party, then everyone can choose their own costumes.

Halloween Party Games

Have a ghost story contest. Give each of the guests an opportunity to tell a ghost story. Have small pieces of paper and pens or pencils available. Let everyone cast their vote for the best story and drop it in a plastic pumpkin. Be sure and have a prize to give the winner.

Halloween Party Recipes

If you want to serve your guests some spooky hors d'oeuvres, like eerie eyeballs, witches brew, or freaky witches fingers, you can find the recipes at Halloween Recipes.

Halloween Party Decorations

You can purchase Halloween decorations in most department stores. If you don't want to spend the money buying expensive decorations, you can make your own.

Buy some black, orange, and white construction paper, google eyes, Halloween stencils, glue, thin string, and some markers. You can make bats, jack o' lanterns, ghosts, skeletons, and tombstones to hang from the ceiling. Mix in a few cobwebs made from stretching poly fill and add some black and orange balloons.

Halloween Party Music

It's not Halloween without some creepy music. Hide a boom box on the front porch and have some scary music playing as the guests arrive. The music from horror movies like Friday the 13th or Halloween would be good choices.

Halloween Party Safety Tips

Safety is important at any gathering. Don't use candles as decorations. Party guests could bump into them or knock them over causing a fire.

If you are using dry ice in your punch, make sure that person who is serving the drinks keeps the dry ice chips out of the guests' drinks. It can cause severe injuries if it is ingested.

We're huge Halloween fans. We use to create our own haunted house party when the kids were younger and invite all of our friends. Lots of fun, although my oldest daughter still laughs an dteases us about Dan using an old doll to behead on the chopping block. :)
