Here are some basic tips that players can use to improve their overall game in Starcraft 2 online play.
Tip#1: Don't be afraid to wall off
While Protoss players want to be aggressive moreso than Terrans, the ability to keep out early Zerglings and opposing Zealots by walling in is still important.
Build gateway and a pylon near each other at the beginning of your base if you suspect any kind of rush. The goal is to cut off the choke point even more so that a Zealot of your own can kill units approaching the ramp and block their entry to your base.
Tip#2: Observers!
The observer gives the Protoss a huge advantage in scouting. With the other races' ability to switch tech on the fly so easily, you'll need to get these out early in the game so that you can see more of the map and especially see inside of their base before they get detectors to react accordingly. This is a simple tip for playing as Protoss that many people forget as they rush to Colossi and Immortals.
Tip#3: +1 attack upgrade
Against Zerg, getting an early attack upgrade helps a lot to fend off Zergling swarms, especially for Zealots.
Tip#4: One or the other
Getting either Zealots' ability to charge or Stalkers' Blink ability is a pretty much necessary for Protoss armies to compete with other races. They are among the most important abilities to get for sure.
Tip#5: Pressuring with Void Rays
Even a couple of well-timed void rays can put lots of pressure on the opponent if deployed smarly. Keep them focused on one building while they attack and try to destroy it before getting out if help comes for your opponent.
You don't need to mass them as much as you need them to provide the threat to your opponent that will make them go for a great deal of anti-air.
Tip#6:Warp Gates
Another simple Protoss tip to keep in mind is that Warp Gates are far more efficient than regular gateways. Build a solid number of them late game, 7-10 or so, so that you can mass warp in units, and get them as soon as you can in mid-game.
Then you can place extra pylons at expansions to keep tabs and warp in forces when your opponent tries to expand.
Keep these tips for playing as Protoss in mind next time you play onlien for a better base in terms of plotting a winning strategy.
