Tips for Popmundo: A Newbie Guide to Your Character

A Quick-Start Guide for Popmundo Newbies

Kelly de Borda
Popmundo.com is an online role-playing game where anyone can become a Pop Star. Not only can you create a band and rise up the charts, the world of Popmundo also gives you the opportunity to be a police, a criminal, a business owner - or even the mayor of New York. But to do any of this, you have to have the skills. This guide will give you tips on improving your skills and your character.

Newbie Experience Points

When you first create your Popmundo character, you'll receive Newbie Experience Points. Popmundo has two daily updates that will each garner you 2 newbie XP. This lasts about 3 weeks and will give you around 100 Newbie XP in all. Use them wisely! Many newbies unknowingly squander their points on health or skills. This is a mistake. Newbie XP should only be used to improve your attributes. After your newbie points run out, you'll receive 1-3 points every Sunday, based on your character's actions in Popmundo the previous week.

Attributes

Your Popmundo character has the following attributes: Charm, Looks, Vocal Ability, Musical Talent and Intelligence. The last two are the most important for a Newbie - Intelligence affects how quickly you can learn, and Musical Talent affects your song writing skills. Charm, Looks and Vocal Ability can be improved later on; their main effects are on stage performance. So use your Newbie XP to improve IQ first, and then Musical Talent.

Health and Mood

For Popmundo newbies, it's hard to keep health and mood high. Don't be ashamed to go to the hospital and ask for help if either gets too low. If either falls below 15%, you'll be committed to the hospital automatically, and not released until both are above 40%. Improve your health by resting if it's below 70%, otherwise exercise in the gym. For mood, it helps to go shopping, and or to party in clubs. Be careful though - too much partying is bad for the health, and shopping can be addictive! Going for a walk will improve both health and mood.

Mother's Tour

Make sure you do everything your mother says - in Popmundo, Mom really does know best! If you follow her instructions, you'll be rewarded with extra skills and money. Additionally, you'll find that you've learned a lot about how Popmundo works.

I hope this newbie guide helps with getting your character started. The first couple of weeks in Popmundo are a true learning experience. Don't get frustrated, and don't give up! There is no newbie mistake that can't be overcome - even the most successful artists made mistakes when they were newbies. Good luck and I'll see you on Popmundo!
