Feeling restricted and unsatisfied are why most dieters fail at their diets. Not being able to enjoy sweets, especially dessert, is pure torture for anyone with a sweet tooth. Having the ability to bring back some of those favorite treats in a diet-friendly version can really give dieters a secret weapon for success.

The easiest way to have desserts yet still maintain a diet is to think inside the box, the yellow Splenda box that is. Splenda is a no calorie sweetener made from sugar and is safe to use when dieting and for diabetics as well. It can be used in any recipe in place of sugar and even comes in a brown sugar and sugar mix for baking. Splenda has the taste and sweetness of sugar without that "diet" taste of most non-sugar sweeteners. Using it in everyday recipes opens up a wide range of foods to dieters.

One easy way to make a diet-friendly dessert using Splenda is to give a new twist to the very elegant recipe for glazed pears. The diet version taste great and identical to the traditional version of the wonderful dessert. Using any variety of fresh pears that have been cut in have and pitted instead of using canned pears which are in a heavy syrup saves a lot of calories and adds a fresher taste and texture to the dessert. The pears can be marinaded in a light syrup that can be made by mixing hot water with brown sugar Splenda, a tad bit of honey and a dash of pure natural vanilla extract. Adding favorite sweet spices such as cinnamon and ground clove, to taste. Before baking the pears should be sprinkled with some brown sugar Splenda, sliced almonds and misted with a diet-friendly butter flavored spread spray. Baking the pear mixture at 325 degrees for forty-five minutes and then cooling is best before serving. For an added diet-friendly treat, a scoop of frozen vanilla yogurt can be placed in each pit of each pear and covered with the sweet syrup and almond slices from the pear dessert. It is a very satisfying and delicious dessert that is simple to prepare yet always satisfies the sweet tooth while being completely guilt free.

Another great way for dieters to get their fill of sweet treats while still eating healthy is to incorporate various naturally sweet fruits into their diet. Fruits such as strawberries, watermelon, various varieties of apples, Asian pears, tangerines and mangos; are all sweet and can be made into various desserts. For instance fat-free sour cream when mixed with fat-free yogurt and Splenda makes an excellent dip for fruit. Fruits can also be cut into slices and dipped in melted dark chocolate for a rich yet still healthy decadent diet-friendly dessert.

The real key to preparing diet-friendly desserts is to get creative and use quality ingredients. Fresher ingredients will give a higher quality taste that makes diet-friendly desserts taste lets "diet" and more indulgent.
