This is influenced by many factors like how much you can afford, what is the size of your living room and your age factor. If you are concerned about which size should be apt for a particular distance, well, you are the right judge for it. There are people who prefer a 60'' TV for a small room and there are some who want a 19'' for a bigger room. So the choice depends on your opinion. The next feature you have to consider is, whether you are going to purchase a LCD or a Plasma TV. In my opinion, both are good. Plasma Tvs are more vibrant with blacks so the blacks are true black. LCD's can also create a very deep black and can have great colors also but ensure that the contrast ratio of your LCD is not small compared to the others. Both the TV's have a high definition and both of them have very quick refresh rates.
So there will not be any lag or shadowing while the pictures move fast. When compared to LCD, Plasmas run hotter and due to their glass fronts, reflect more light. So if you have more light in your room, with a Plasma TV the glare will be unbearable. The next thing you have to consider is HD programming. These days all antenna broadcast are going digital. So to get High definition, the station should be broadcasting in HD, the satellite or your cable company should also be sending you in HD and your TV should also be a HD. So you need a HD cord from your set box to your television set. The other important thing you have to consider is the cords. Most of the audio cords are good. If your cord is thicker and little expensive, you can hear better sound and face few problems. But for video it is different. HDMI is the best option. All HDMI cords perform the same way whether it is going to be 8ft or shorter than that.
This means that you do not have spend extra money for a cord that is eight feet. However you can pay more if it is going to be longer than 8 feet to get the best quality. I hope the above points will help you to a certain extent. As technology changes everyday, be aware of these changes by doing some research before your purchase, as purchasing a TV is not a small investment.
