Tips for Reducing Feelings of Anxiety

Everyone feels a little anxious sometimes. Anxiety is a normal part of life. However if you find your feelings of anxiety are frequent and having a negative impact on your daily life then it's time to do something about it. The following are some tips for reducing feelings of anxiety.

Incorporate a daily exercise routine.
Exercising is a wonderful way to reduce feelings of anxiety. So think about what type of exercises you would most enjoy and are capable of doing. Then spend between 20 minutes to an hour exercising. Some examples of exercises are aerobics, bike riding, walking, swimming and running.

Redirect your attention.
The number one cause of anxiety is our thought process. How we think about things can influence our level of anxiety. So if you find that what you're thinking is anxiety provoking then quickly redirect your attention to something else. For example, call up a friend, watch a movie, read a magazine or play some computer games. Whatever you think would be a good distraction for your mind.

Make a visit to an acupuncturist.
An acupuncturist is able to reduce your feelings of anxiety by inserting tiny needles in areas that typically have an impact on your level of anxiety. Many people have expressed that after seeing an acupuncturist that their anxiety either reduced or was totally eliminated.

Get a massage.
A massage is a great way to reduce the tension in your body and reduce your level of anxiety. These days you can find inexpensive places to get a massage. So check your local yellow pages and find out where a great massage place is near you.

Engage in deep breathing.
When our anxiety level if high our breathing is often shallow. If you pay attention you may even find yourself holding your breath when feeling anxious. So take some slow deep breaths through your nose and blow out through your mouth to help calm the body and ease the mind.

Take a break from life.
Many people overwhelm themselves with too many daily life tasks. This can easily cause anyone to feel anxious and even sick. So take a break from life to help reduce your feelings of anxiety. For example take a weekend trip some place close. You can also take time off from work and do fun things that you have always wanted to.

See a therapist.
Seek help from a therapist if you feel your feelings of anxiety are taking control over your life. A therapist can help you get to the core of the problem and reduce your level of anxiety.
