Lay down and relax.
Find a nice quite room and lay down somewhere. It also helps if the room is fairly dark. You may want to consider putting a damp washcloth on your forehead, but the most important thing is the silence. Even the smallest of sounds can cause a migraine sufferer quite albeit of pain. If the room is too bright, you can always close your eyes.
Food and drink.
When the pain lessons, you may want to consider eating or drinking something. Make sure it's something fairly healthy, so avoid sodas or chocolate. Just stick to cold water and other chocolate free snacks. For some reason, sodas and chocolate seem to make my migraines worse. And if sodas and chocolate can make my migraines worse, chances are that they might make your migraines worse as well. But the choice is yours.
Medication.
Okay, so medication is an obvious choice for migraine relief. Certain types of medicine are specifically targeted to relieve migraine pain. But be careful. There can be unpleasant side effects from the medications sometimes, so you may want to check with your doctor if you are uneasy about taking any migraine medicine. Or you may just want to stick with regular old aspirin.
Distract your mind.
Your thoughts can influence the level of pain your migraine causes you. So try to think about a happy event that happened in your past or something that you are looking forward to in the future. Avoid thinking negative or angry thoughts because these may increase the migraine pain. Or try to seek oblivion and go to sleep.
Take a hot shower.
You'd be amazed at the positive effects a hot shower can have on the body, and this includes your migraine pain. A hot shower or bath can substantially decrease the amount of agony you're in. The hot shower may not eradicate the migraine pain entirely, but it should reduce your symptoms at the very least.
Migraines are something that many people suffer from. Fortunately, there are ways in which the pain from migraines can be reduced. Hopefully, the tips in this article will help you in alleviating the pain from your future migraines.
