The first thing is pretty simple - when you get home from work, change into some "non-work" clothes. This can be your favourite trackie bottoms and a vest-top or just your pyjamas! Basically, wear something that you would never associate with wearing to work! Even if you have to prepare dinner for yourself and your family the moment you arrive home, if you are wearing clothes that make you feel relaxed, cooking will not feel like a chore or make you feel like you're still at work.
Next, you may enjoy watching TV in the evening. You can still do this, but try not to just before you go to bed. Sometimes it's difficult and you can get too caught up in your favourite show! Don't worry though, as the next step will really ensure you get right to sleep.
I find that the perfect way to relax for 30-45 minutes is to have a bath. Whilst my bath is running, I take off my make-up and make sure my hair is tied back. That way, I can have my bath without worrying about having to take my make-up off afterwards! I also make sure that I have lots of bubbles and that the scent is not too strong. Also make sure that the water is not too hot; you don't want to look like a lobster! If you want to try a bubble bath specifically for night-time, there are plenty on the market, but I find the best are from Elemis (they do the most amazing bath soaks) and Johnson's Dreamy Skin for a more budget buy. Johnson's have also just introduced Dreamy Skin Facial Night Wipes to their range and they have been specifically designed to be used at night-time. These wipes are infused with a unique, skin-friendly fragrance, which has been designed to calm you down before bed. Try gently placing a wipe over your face and gently breathing in the scent. Heaven!
