To repair a broken horn, I would first check the fuses. If none of them are burnt out then see if the car horn has a disconnected wire connect it, and it should work. If the horn does not have a disconnected wire, or reconnecting the wire did not help, then I would suggest purchasing a new one.
There are many ways of buying a new car horn. First there is buying one from the factory, but that is expensive and you have to pay for shipping. Second is tearing one out of an old junk car, I would not suggest this one though because it takes allot of work, and you do not know if the car horn is in a working condition, the best option open to you is buying an aftermarket horn from a department store, such as Farms And Fleet. I bought one from there for my VW beetle. And am happily driving and honking around.
If you have decided to buy an aftermarket horn, you must make a simple selection, low or high tone. I choose a low town, because it is less annoying. You may want to choose a car horn that looks about the size of your original one. So it will fit in nicely.
Once you have bought the horn it is time to install it. I would suggest taking out the original off mount and all, if your new horn comes with a mounting bracket. Once you have done that, secure your new one in its place. Then you remove the wires from the old horn one and replace them into the new one.
If your horn did not come with a new mounting bracket, then you should remove the old horn from it, without removing the mounting bracket, then simply put the new car horn where the old one was and hook up the wires.
The horn you purchased should have a set of mounting instructions with it. This will be handy when installing. So use them. The saying that real men don't use instructions is stupid; I can not stress it enough. Only a fool would not use free advice.

Post a CommentWith me, water got into the old horn, so it was dying. We wondered why but yesterday, we took it out and noticed that it was dripping water... So we just put a new one in.
