Tips on How to Save on Baby Formula and Other Baby Expenses

S.B.
A reader asked me if I'd post about how to save money on baby expenses such as diapers, formula, etc. Here is that post. I'm always glad to help out my readers when I can.

The easiest way to avoid spending money on formula is to nurse. I'm a nursing mom, so I haven't had to deal with buying formula - but I can offer you some tips on how to save if you prefer to formula feed.

Ask those who are breastfeeding if they have any formula samples. I am nursing my daughter and I had cans of free formula the hospital gave me. I put them up on Craigslist and gave them away for free. I also do the same thing with the formula checks they send me. I would ask around to see if anyone has any free samples or checks or coupons they do not use.

Also, I would sign up on the Nestle Web site because they will send you formula checks. You could also send a compliment letter to the company in hopes of getting some coupons. I also heard that doctors offices get free formula samples. I know someone who is formula feeding her baby and she gets free formula from the doctors office. It won't completely reduce your cost, but every little bit helps!

You could also look into store brand formula. I have no clue if it is good or not, but I've seen that Target sells their own brand. Lastly, I have seen some people sell formula coupons and checks on eBay. Maybe you could find some there.

Saving on Diapers, Wipes & Other Baby Products
I save on baby products by requesting baby coupons from the manufacturers. I sign up for mailing lists, etc and they send me great coupons.

I use CVS to help me earn Extra Care Bucks, so I don't ever have to pay for diapers or wipes or things like baby Tylenol, etc. When a baby product we use is a good deal - like the free travel wipes deal or the baby food deal from Target that was available in Dec./Jan Timeframe, I load up and stockpile.

Using Creativity To Help Save On Baby Expenses

I get crafty and make my own bibs and even a dress.
