Tips for Saving Money on Food when You Go on Trips

Jasmine Starr

We all know that we can spend some money on food when we go on trips. Eating three meals a day and having drinks will easily run you $300, depending on the length of your stay. My family and I often take road trips and we have found ways to save money on trips when it comes to drinks and food. In this article, you will find tips that will help you save money on food while you are on your trip. Some of these tips may not be possible with your situation, but everyone is different and has different trips. So although not all of them will help you, I am sure some of them will.

Tips for Saving Money While Eating on Trips

Tip 1 - Hotels with Breakfast

My first tip to you is find a hotel that has breakfast. Some hotels have small breakfasts that include cereal, waffles and bagels. Others have full breakfasts that include sausage, eggs, ham and so on. If you find a hotel with breakfast, that will save you money on one meal.

Tip 2 - Take Sandwich Stuff with You

To save money, you can also take sandwich stuff with you from home. The place you may be going might be more expensive than what you are use too. You can buy sandwich stuff at home and pack it in a cooler. Then when you get to where you are going, you can put it in the refrig. This could be your lunches and that will save you from having to eat out.

Tip 3 - Eating Out

Surely you will want to eat out for dinner sometimes. So, the best way to save money here is looking for coupons in the area or the hotel you are staying in. Before you decide on going somewhere, you can get the phonebook and call places to see what their prices are. Especially if you are looking at places with buffet, you can call and see what their prices are.

Tip 4 - Drink Tips

When it comes to drinks, there are a couple of things you can do. For starters, if you drink tea, you can carry your teabags and sugar from home, along with your pitcher and make tea to drink on your travel. If you don't drink tea and drink soft drinks, it is sometimes cheaper to buy 2 liters instead of buying cans or 20oz bottles. If you drink water, you can carry a few jugs of water from home instead of buying bottled water to drink. This too will save you money.

Using the tips in this article will help save money while on trips. Like I said, you may not be in a position to use all of the tips, but I'm sure you can use a couple of them.
