Tips for Saving Money in Las Vegas

If you are going to Las Vegas for the first time and you are on a budget then there are a few pointers that you may find helpful:

1. If you are flying out to Las Vegas buy your tickets as far ahead in advance as you can. Last minute boarding prices tend to be much higher.

2. Once you are in Las Vegas eat at buffets or take advantage of the incredible dinner deals offered by many of the casinos. They have these incredibly cheap dinners in the hopes that you will gamble before or after you eat your meal.

3. Take advantage of the monorail. The monorail travels through the main strip on Las Vegas Blvd, transporting you to and from casinos such as Mandalay Bay, New York Hotel and Casino, and up to Caesar's Palace. The monorail is much cheaper and faster than taking a cab.

4. Make a pact with your friends and family that you will only spend a certain amount on gambling. Most people break their budget due to the lures of gambling.

5. If you are a drinker you can get free drinks simply by sitting at a slot machine or active gambling table. The higher the amounts your are betting the more likely it seems that cocktail waitresses will cater to your alcoholic beverage needs.

6. If you want to stay in the top hotel/casinos without breaking the bank you can book rooms for the week days instead of the weekend. Sometimes Hotels will double room prices for weekend dates. If bought at the last minute room prices during holidays can be three times or more expensive than the regular rate.

7. Get a comp card. If you do gamble at all at least you may be eligible to receive some free comps from the casino.

8. If you drink, bring your own alcohol from home. Drinks can be five times more expensive in a Vegas Casino compared to a standard bar.

9. If you live less than a five hour drive from Vegas then drive instead of flying. The price of an airline ticket and a rental car can far outstrip the gas paid for the commute.

10. Bring bottles of water. Not only will this keep you hydrated in the often scorching Vegas heat but it will leave you feeling more full. Plain bottles of water can cost up to five dollars in some casinos.
