Tips for Saving Money in Vegas Part 2: The Gamer's Revenge

Since there was such a large response to my first article about how to save money in Las Vegas, I have decided to post another article on the topic. There are many other tips that I can give that were not present in the first article.

Many regular visitors to Las Vegas can save money by booking the hotel and flight separately then if they are booked together. If you are a regular to Las Vegas, make sure that you call the casino/resort that you are staying at before you book your trip online. Many locations in Vegas can give you better deals if you book through them then if you book online.

Once you arrive at the Airport in Las Vegas, make sure that you search for any local newspapers and local magazines before leaving. Many of these publications will have coupons for different attractions around town.

Once you arrive at your hotel, make sure that you search around the check-in desk for the properties newsletter or magazine. These will also hold coupons for the location that you are staying at. If you can't find them, ask fro direction from the person at the front desk.

Do not book the better rooms before visiting Las Vegas. Do what is called the, "$20 trick." When you are checking into your room, discretely hand the person at the desk a twenty, and ask if there is anything that they can do to upgrade your room. Most of the time, they will be able to upgrade you to at least a room with a view for your stay. Sometimes they will upgrade you to a suite for less then what is advertised.

Make sure that you always get a player's card for any location that you are going to gamble at. Members of the players club will usually receive coupons for that location, and have reduced-rate coupons mailed to them at a later date. This way you will save money on your current trip, and on your next one.

If you are going to have a meal at the location where you are staying, have the bill charged to your room. Once you checkout, the person at the desk may comp your meal if you have enough action on your player's card.

For one of the best cheap meals in all of Las Vegas head over to Ellis Island. This is a small casino that is located about a block off of the main strip. At their restaurant, make sure that you ask for the, "Off the menu steak special." You will receive a good-sized steak, baked potato and vegetable for $5. It is a great value for very good food.

If you are going to see a show in Vegas, do not buy the tickets from the box office at the casino. There are many locations around town that offer cheaper tickets for shows in the city.

Investigate the shuttle schedules around the city. There are many free shuttles that travel from one casino to another. These will save you a lot of money on cab fare. Many of the outlying casinos have free shuttle service to the strip that run almost all day and night.

Granted, Las Vegas is becoming more and more expensive every year. Make sure that you pay attention to these tips to make sure that you can at least save some money your next time there.
