Ah yes, the technical age, inundating us with the plethora of technical advancements from XBox360 to the IPOD Touch, Netbook computers, LCD TVs to the Blu-Ray DVD player. It seems like we have all been bitten by the electronics bug since every house has at least one LCD TV, cell phone, computer, video game interface and DVD player. The Blu-Ray DVD player is among the top technological advances, when it comes to entertainment for the senses, recently. Blu-Ray players supersede the standard 480pixel DVD in terms of picture clarity, definition and sound quality, but is it really for you? And, what features do you need in a Blu-Ray DVD player?

The Blu-Ray DVD player is truly a remarkable advancement in the entertainment world. Blu-Ray laser technology works with the other end of the light spectrum. Because of this, a shorter wavelength is used allowing five times more data storage over standard DVD players. This is very beneficial in that sound quality and picture definition are enhanced plus storage space is expanded for addition bonus features!

Many major companies have jumped on the bandwagon selling one or more models, like Toshiba. Toshiba was the developer of the short lived HD DVD player and DVDs. Their success lasted only a year or so and they have since succumbed to the glory and popularity associated with Blu-Ray. Other manufacturers that have expanded their product lines to incorporate Blu-Ray into their diverse technological entourage are Sony, Samsung, Vizio, Panasonic and Magnavox.

Not all Blu-Ray players are alike. Price points range from $60.00 or so upwards to $600.00 or more. Like anything else, alot of times, you get what you pay for comes into play. Like purchasing a car, you may not need all the added features, so why spend additional money for them. The same holds true when deciding on a Blu-Ray player. Features like reduced jitter control circuitry, 3D enabled or ready compatability, WiFi enabled or ready, dynamic signal to noise ratio, single wire connection technology, 5.1 or 7.1 analog audio outputs down to the touch free buttons, fancy aluminum or glass fold out front panels, graphic interface and gold plated connectors. Basically, the sky is the limit when shopping for the right Blu-Ray player.

Which ever features you decide on when purchasing a Blu-Ray player, it is best to read the update consumer guide , compare features and prices at various stores and on line venues. You may not want or need many of the features accustomed with one model and choose to go with a lesser priced model. The key is that you are receiving elevated picture definition and sound quality the way you were meant to see and hear the movie by going with a Blu-Ray player!
