The Blu-Ray DVD player is truly a remarkable advancement in the entertainment world. Those of you that have the Sony PlayStation are able to watch Blu-Ray movies on their gaming console, which is a perk with purchasing Sony PlayStation. The rest of us have to purchase the Blu-Ray DVD player separately. I am sure that many of you still possess the prehistoric VHS video player or may have recently upgraded to the standard DVD player. Up converter DVD players are now available that allow just that, increase the sound quality and picture clarity and definition of DVDs by increasing the pixels number through a more advanced laser beam. These units are OK, thought, they don't compare to Blu-Ray's optimal imagery and sound, in my opinion.
Optical disk storage devices like Blu-Ray players use a "blue laser" which is actually in the 405nm area of the light spectrum closer to violet rays. Standard DVD lasers are red in color as they fall in the 650nm range in the light spectrum. The higher the nm of light(kelvin) the longer the wavelength is, resulting in a reduced storage space over the same given area. Blu-Ray laser technology works with the other end of the light spectrum. Because of this, a shorter wavelength is used allowing five times more data storage over standard DVD players. This is very beneficial in that sound quality and picture definition are enhanced plus storage space is expanded for addition bonus features!
Many major companies have jumped on the bandwagon selling one or more models, like Toshiba. Toshiba was the developer of the short lived HD DVD player and DVDs. Their success lasted only a year or so and they have since succumbed to the glory and popularity associated with Blu-Ray. Other manufacturers that have expanded their product lines to incorporate Blu-Ray into their diverse technological entourage are Sony, Samsung, Vizio, Panasonic and Magnavox.
Not all Blu-Ray players are alike. Price points range from $60.00 or so upwards to $600.00 or more. Like anything else, alot of times, you get what you pay for comes into play. Like purchasing a car, you may not need all the added features, so why spend additional money for them. The same holds true when deciding on a Blu-Ray player. Features like reduced jitter control circuitry, 3D enabled or ready compatability, WiFi enabled or ready, dynamic signal to noise ratio, single wire connection technology, 5.1 or 7.1 analog audio outputs down to the touch free buttons, fancy aluminum or glass fold out front panels, graphic interface and gold plated connectors. Basically, the sky is the limit when shopping for the right Blu-Ray player.
Which ever features you decide on when purchasing a Blu-Ray player, it is best to read the update consumer guide , compare features and prices at various stores and on line venues. You may not want or need many of the features accustomed with one model and choose to go with a lesser priced model. The key is that you are receiving elevated picture definition and sound quality the way you were meant to see and hear the movie by going with a Blu-Ray player!
Now, if I haven't gotten you excited about Blu-Ray yet, see for yourself at any electronics store like Best Buy, and J.P Richard or possibly one of your friends or neighbors owns one. Let your eyes and ears be the judge. You may have taken the right step towards changing the way you look, listen and watch movies, forever with Blu- Ray's true 1080 HD picture resolution, image quality and pristine sound dimension .
Take a look for yourself...
