Tips to Shaving Your Face Close

A Guide on Getting the Perfect Shave Every Time

There is a right way and a wrong way to shave your face. Here are five tips on getting that all elusive perfect shave every time.

1. To Get the Perfect Shave Start With a Sharp Razor
It doesn't matter if you use a multi-blade or a disposable razor; you have to start with a sharp razor. If you start to feel any drag on the blades as it comes across your face, you need to swap it out. A sharp razor will keep your face from ending up with redness and skin blotches.

2. To Get the Perfect Shave Use a Brush
It will not matter whether you choose to use a gel or a cream. The importance is how you apply it to your face. Always apply your lubricant with a shaving brush and not with your hands. A shaving brush will create a richer, thicker lather on your face. The shaving brush will also lift and soften your beard hairs so that you can trim with easier with your sharp razor.

3. To Get the Perfect Shave Use the Correct Stroke
If you have been shaving for any time at all, you have been told to not shave against the grain of you beard. Shaving against the grain causes you to shave too closely and the hair of your beard could get stuck in the follicles of your face. This will cause your beard hair to grow inward and you could end up with painful ingrown hairs. Instead of just shaving with the grain of your beard, try shaving across the grain from ear to nose. This should give you the close shave you are looking for without the redness or irritation.

4. To Get the Perfect Shave Remember to Rinse and Pat Dry
When you have completed your shaving always rinse your face using cool water. After rinsing thoroughly pat dry your face with a towel. Try to avoid rubbing it as this can cause more irritation and inflammation on your face.

5. To Get the Perfect Shave Always Soothe Your Skin
There is nothing worse than to finish shaving and your skin has that tight, dry feeling. Make sure that you use a good after-shave lotion to moisturize the face. Remember to give your face time to heal after a close shave. Wait at least 24 hours before shaving again. When you have finished with your close shave, dry your razor before storing it away. A dull razor is usually from oxidation and rusting rather than from frequent use.
