Many printable sudoku puzzles are available online especially after it became popular again in 1994 in Japan. The main rule of sudoku is that no number should appear more than once in one column, row, or mini grid. This is not a mathematical game. It is a logic game that greatly relies on reasoning skills of the gamer. There are several techniques and strategies that were created and you can search on them online. But if you just want basic strategies, here are some tips that you might need when answering printable sudoku puzzles.
  • After printing the puzzle, study it very carefully. Try to look at columns, rows, or grids where you only have one single possible number to put. In most sudoku puzzles, you can usually find at least one of these clues. Start from here and then check for another area or other boxes where only one answer is possible.
  • The advantage of printable sudoku puzzles is that you can mark the boxes with possible and logical answers. You cannot do this when answering online. Write small numbers because one box could contain two to five possible answers. This way, it will be easy to erase the markings after you figured out the correct answer. This is also a great way to organize possible tactics and methods to solve the puzzle and also to narrow down your options.
  • Study each row, column, and mini grid. It might seem tedious and time consuming especially if you have a 9 x 9 grid. But in the long run, this will even save you time by providing you with logical answers that are correct more often than not. It is very easy to determine which number is logical for each box since a number can only appear once per column, row, and mini grid.
  • In the same rows or columns, search for same pairs of numbers in two boxes. These pairs are also referred to as 'naked pairs'. It only means the possibility of having one of the numbers in either of the boxes. The first box could contain the first number, and the second box could contain the second number, or the first box could contain the second number, or the second box the first number. This is also related to probability. At first, you will not be able to know which number fits in which box, but at least you will not include these in your options among boxes in other rows or columns.
  • Do these tips repeatedly throughout the game. Keep on answering and answering and you will then immediately spot patterns as the boxes started to be filled in.

In following these simple tips, you will realize that it is easy to answer sudoku as long as you have an organized strategy. After successfully solving your very first printable sudoku puzzle, you will be surprised to realize that it is really quite addicting. So go to a sudoku website and start printing sudoku puzzles to start your day.
