Tips for Starting Your Campfire

There are several different ways to get your fire going when you're out camping. This method is likely the cheapest and works very efficiently. Camping is one of America's favorite pastimes. Immediately when camping comes to mind, you imagine a big tent lit up by the campfire outside. The only essential to any camping trip is the famous fire.

Being prepared is always the best way to approach anything. To prepare for your campfire have matches, some form of paper (or lighting fluid if necessary), and anything that you may feel is a good addition to your experience. Find a nice clear spot or make one for your firepit. If possible surround with rocks. The next step is collecting wood. Find pieces that are laying on the ground, preferably fallen branches because both smaller and larger pieces can be obtained from them. Go ahead and put your paper down first, but leave room for you to light it. The paper will be the beginning to the flame. Break off the smallest of the limbs and put on the paper. Then stack some that are a little bigger, but keep them small so the heat can then handle the biggest logs. The fire is ready to be lit. Light the paper and the smaller twigs will catch fire after a few seconds of paper burning. Keep adding bigger branches as the fire burns. You can keep it going all night if you'd like, but you will need a flashlight for collecting the wood later.

Always remember safety during your camping trips. Never leave your fire burning unattended. Forrest fires are a major problem and we are there to enjoy the solitude of the woods. Respect mother nature and it will bring more enjoyable adventures.
