As Christmas gets closer, you might be thinking about what movies you would like to watch for this Christmas season. Christmas movies are a very fun and entertaining way to get into the Christmas spirit while being surrounded by your family. If you have not started a Christmas movie collection yet, then you might be wondering where to begin. There are some things you need to keep in mind and remember as you start your Christmas movie collection as well as must-have Christmas movies.

One of the first things you need to do if you want to start a Christmas movie collection is look at any Christmas movies you might already have and make a list. You need to know what you have already in order to know what movies you are going to need. Some people might have VHS movies from the 1990's and do not want to get rid of them, or you might think that your Christmas movies are so outdated you might as well start over. Take an inventory of the Christmas movies you have and the formats of movies you have, and think about whether you want to change any of the VHS movies to DVD format.

Once you know what movies you have then you can move on to figuring out what movies you want. If you know what movies you have in VHS and want to upgrade to DVD format, then add those to your list. You can figure out what movies you want by listing your all-time favorite Christmas movies or ask maybe a younger relative to name some of their favorite Christmas movies so that you can remember some if you are having trouble. You can also look on Ebay for Christmas movies to see what they have so you know what kind of movies you might want to look for.

After you do those two steps, then you need to think about money for your Christmas movie collection. If you only have a certain amount of money to spend to start off your Christmas movie collection, think about the movies you want the most. You can make a new list if you want of the Christmas movies you want to get first, maybe the most important Christmas movies to you or to your spouse. By knowing what Christmas movies you want to get first, you can then start the process of looking around for them.

You want to then look at the ads of your local retail stores to see what sales are going on when it comes to Christmas movies. Look at the titles of the movies you most want and see if stores like Target or Wal-Mart have those movies on sale. Shopping around for those movies you most want will ensure you get the best deal and will also make it easier on you if you know what stores you need to go to.

Once you have found the Christmas movies you want to buy to start your collection at your local retail store, it is important you go around Christmas to get them. Around Christmas such as the day after Thanksgiving is a really good time to go shopping for Christmas movies. If you go to the store the day after Thanksgiving you will probably be able to find some really good deals on your Christmas movies and you can also buy most of them in one store. Shop the bargain bins at places and see what DVD Christmas movies they have or ask someone to help you try to find the certain Christmas movies you are looking for. Hitting the sales and clearance bins for your Christmas movies will be a sure way to get the movies you want for the least amount of money.

If you are looking for some Christmas movies to start off your Christmas movie collection, you might want to think about some of these classic Christmas movies. "A Christmas Carol", "Miracle on 34th Street", "Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer", "Elf", "Home Alone", "Frosty Returns", and "Scrooge." You can get all of these movies and more on DVD format for about five or ten dollars at your local retail stores and are a great addition to your Christmas movie collection because they are classics and never get old to watch.
