As we set goals through out life, many of them can be long term and difficult to achieve. Through out the journey to achieve our goals we can often lose focus and lose our motivation along with it. I have struggled with maintaining motivation a couple times when trying to achieve goals. I have found a couple of tips that have worked for me to help me stay motivated when following my goals.

Have Support
When trying to achieve goals, the process of maintaining motivation can be made easier by have a strong support system behind you. Support system's can take many forms. I have found that having one person or a group of people behind me and encouraging me through out the process, helps me stay motivated the best. When ever you start to become discouraged or lose your motivation, your support system can step in an give you a little push towards your goal.

Create a Visual
Creating a visual of your goal can help keep motivation. This can be done many ways. One way to create a visual is to write your goal down. Whenever you need a little motivation, pull the piece of paper out and give yourself a little boost. You can also create a checklist of steps you need to follow to achieve your goal can help you as well. Each time you complete a step to your goal check it off. This gives you a visual that you are one step closer to achieving your goal. This is a great motivational boost.

Another visual that can be used for staying motivated is to have a picture. For example, maybe you are saving money to get your dream car. Get a picture of your dream car and post it somewhere that can be seen easily. Every time you think about spending money that would otherwise go towards the car, look at the picture to regain focus and keep your motivation.

Know What you are Getting Into
Nothing can be more discouraging then the feeling of getting in over your head. It is important to know exactly what you are getting into when you make a goal. It can be very discouraging and easily allow your motivation to slip away if you discover that your goal is going to be much harder than first thought.

Staying motivated can be a very difficult thing to do especially when the road to achievement starts to get really tough. These are a few tips I have learned to help me stay on a successful path to achieving my goals.
