Tips for Straightening Hair

RONYAE
Before I go directly into the tips for straightening hair, I wish to explain that there are a variety of types of hair; not just the length, but hair textures. My experience comes from dealing with hair of a coil nature, which is the type of hair that most black people are born with. And believe me, there are plenty of ways to straighten this coil texture. But from my experience, the longer the hair, the more work that has to be done to manage the hair and get it straightened. Of course this being the fact that the hair strands are longer, therefore having more hair to work with.

The most commonly used procedure to straighten hair in a salon is processing, where the hair can be 'relaxed'; this procedure is accommodating for all types: long through short, coarse or thin, straight, but curly, 'kinky' or wavy hair. And if you are looking for that salon look, but not the salon price, a relaxer can be purchased at any beauty supplier outlet, or retail store that have health and beauty products; you can find a relaxer that is priced as low as $3.99. Please be sure to read directions! I repeat-please follow the directions included in the relaxer packaging. If you follow the instructions, you are sure to get the look of having your hair straightened at a salon.

Once you have the relaxer steps completed and are ready to style your straightened hair, the use of a blow-dryer often brings out the finished look of the straightened hair; and priced at $8.99, gives your wallet a smile. Another tip for styling your straightened hair, but not having to pay salon prices would be to set your straightened hair, and then sit under a hair hood dryer. After either process, you can curl your hair to complete the look, adding oil sheen and holding spray as the finishing touches.

Another process for straightening coil-textured hair would be the use of a pressing comb. This procedure takes more time, and is done by applying heat to the hair in order to straighten the strands. I have no first-hand knowledge of whether this process can be used on wiry hair types; but, it is known that most hair types like this use, flat irons to straighten the hair strands. You can style with curling irons just as you would after relaxing the hair to straighten it.

Not forgetting to add or use oils, sheen sprays and spritz of holding sprays, to add flair and stability to your styles. Now you have it-a salon look for a homemade price! Enjoy looking like a superstar.
