Also, don't forget those maps to help you navigate and to assist you incase you get lost. If you have a GPS or can afford to buy one, that will be even better. Getting lost is agonizing and very inconvenient, especially if you're traveling with youngsters. Whether you're going alone or with others, a delay in getting to your destination is just no fun at all.
Bring plenty of music, books, and activity books along with you to help pass the time. It's always a good idea to bring along some of your favorite music. It's going to be a long driveBe sure to remember to plan ahead for time. The sooner you get to your destination the better, so plan to be quick at rest stops, and plan to avoid tourist traps and distractions. Most importantly, keep your eye on the road and always stay focused. If you need to take a break from driving, let someone else drive for a while, or stop and take a few moments to relax.
Make sure you get plenty of sleep as well. You want to be fully alert while you are driving. Not getting enough sleep is also a good way to lose your sanity. Take some pain relievers with you in case you get a headache, driving with a headache can make anyone insane. If night driving makes you go insane, drive during the day and rest at night. Remember to stay safe, and be careful out there. Remember to have fun on your trip and enjoy yourself!
