Tips for Surviving Without a Home Internet Connection
We Can't Imagine the Time Anymore Without One Because it Makes Part of Our Daily Life but it is More an Addiction Than Something You Really Need
A home Internet connection is certainly not necessary to survive; you don't become ill without one. Maybe some of them a little bit depressed but many older people live without one and do they complain? Surely not; they are not aware of the advantages of Internet and have the idea that it is too complicated for them. Living without a home Internet connection is for many people going back to the past when we lived on a totally different way.
Surviving without a home Internet connection means that we need to set up some goals and make use from some other facilities like a library or visiting some friends who wants to share their computer for a certain time. The disadvantage of a library is that you have only a limited time of use. Some institutions offer you unlimited use of an Internet connection and if you really need to spend hours online you can better visit such places to get your work done. Probably you can find some Internet cafs where you have access for a small fee.
Make a list of your Internet work so that you can divide your time to visit places for Internet connection.
Maybe it is useful to check your emails in the library and you can store them the mails which you really need later on a cd or dvd. Also for emails which you can't reply immediately you can better save them first on a cd and think about a good answer at home. You don't need a home Internet connection for reading the information on your cd or dvd. You can reply the next day or when your answer is ready.
Many students need an Internet connection because their tasks appear online and even the hours when they need to follow certain lessons are only available on a protected Internet site. It is really not difficult to find a way to get access to the Internet and many tasks can be done before you really need connection. Make your documents in the software which you have on your computer and you need only a limited time to upload them.
People use their home Internet connection also for entertainment like playing games, chatting with their friends, sharing pictures. Try to find some other possibilities to spend your time and maybe you will find out better possibilities to improve your social contact.
Some tips are:
- Watch television together with your family instead of playing games online or search some other games which you can do together.
- Visit your friends instead of chatting for hours. You can talk and is that not better than always typing messages in that little box. Your eyes will be more relaxed.
- Make more time free for exercise; it is better for your health and will relax your brains.
- Go to the shops and walk around for your shopping. You will need probably a lot more time than shopping online but you will have more social contact and can get professional advice from a sales man.
- Visit a travel agency for reservation of your hotel or travel.
- Go to the bank and there are online services for making your payment
- Buy your tickets for a movie or a cultural event in a cultural center
- Read a book, some magazines or listen to music you like
- Send a real postcard instead of an e-card for some celebrations
- Spend more time with your family; it will strengthen your bound with your family members. Talk with your husband, your wife, and your children and have a good conversation with them. Also your pets need attention and if you can make more time for them free they will enjoy it.
Surviving without a home Internet connection is really not difficult; let your imagination work and maybe you find out that many things can be done on a more relaxed way. Probably you need more time but maybe you find out that your life can make things more enjoyable.

Post a CommentIt's sad, but if I'm ever without Internet connection I feel lost! It shows how much we depend on it.
I can remember being in school and being taught things like typing on those green and black screen apple computers
This is so helpful Erik! I am glad that you wrote this!
I remember the days without internet. I was just fine without it, then. Today, if the cable is out for a couple of hours I start twitching.
Great tips. But I never want to live without my computer and internet connection. Life just wouldn't be complete.
Nice work.
Great article... made me think.
The time my cable has been down I've almost climbed the walls. I'll admit it. I'm addicted.
I agree with the others. I can't really imagine what life was like before the Internet! Many of us rely on it for work, study and when conducting research.

A lot of great tips....very well conveyed. I think with summer here, this is a bit easier to do now lol. It's much nicer to spend some time outside in the sun than sitting at the computer!!
