Tips for Taking Care of a Little Girl's Really Curly Hair

5 Steps to Tangle Free Curls

Taking care of a little girl's hair can be tough, let alone if it is thick and curly. Here are some tips that will allow for tangle free curls, and less tears getting ready in the morning.

1. Olive Oil Treatments
Instead of spending money on hot oil treatments, that can contain chemicals, make your own at home using olive oil. Simply pour a little olive oil in cup and place it in a bowl of hot water to warm it up. Coat your little girl's hair with it and wrap her head in a plastic grocery bag or plastic wrap and throw a towel, turban style, over the whole thing. This will add sheen and make her locks lustrous. Do this treatment once a month.

2. Kids Haircare Products for Curly Hair
Buy shampoo and conditioner that is meant for taking care of a little girl's really curly hair. I recommend "Johnson's® No More Tangles ® Shampoo + Conditioner" for curly hair. It detangles the curls as you wash them. For extra hard to manage tresses, follow it up with a cream rinse or conditioner (just at the end of hair, to avoid getting the product in her eyes) and comb it through with a large toothed comb.

3. Detangler
A leave in detangler is a must for a snarled child's head. Not only does it make her locks more manageable, it also has additional conditioning agents for softness and shine.

4. Combination Large and Small Comb
Invest in a comb that has a side with large wide teeth and a side with finer, closer together teeth. The large side is perfect for starting the detangling process without pulling as hard or snaring the snarls. The smaller side is great to finish up the process, as well as define the ends of her hair.

5. Leave in De-Frizz Spray or Gel
The last of the tips for taking care of a little girl's really curly hair is to buy finishing kids haircare products for curly hair. (If you cannot find ones marketed towards kids, adults ones are fine as long as you are careful to not get the product in her eyes.) After applying it to her curls, use the small end of the comb to work it through each strand and than scrunch up the waves with your hand to set them in place.
