1 year olds can be a lot of fun at Disneyland, and they can have a lot of fun at Disneyland. However, it's most helpful for parents to plan a bit beforehand in order to make their Disneyland trip the best it can be. If you are planning a trip to Disneyland with your 1 year old, you may want to keep the following tips in mind!
Keep baby comfortable! There are few things sadder to see at Disneyland than a baby who is miserable because of fatigue, heat, sunburn, or hunger, or some other type of discomfort. To maximize your experience with your 1 year old at Disneyland, be absolutely sure to bring a stroller that lies back so that your baby can sleep comfortably when tired. There are several shady nooks and crannies around Disneyland. Park the stroller and rest for a while if needed, while baby stays cool to sleep. Additionally, be sure to have any and all bottles, food, and snacks where you can get to them easily. Make sure you have applied an ample amount of sunscreen on your 1 year old before you get into the parks. If your 1 year old will wear a sunhat, bringing one is a good idea as well! Be sure to bring an adequate supply of diapers and wipes. Dress your 1 year old for the weather, being sure that you don't dress them too warmly. Disneyland is a very warm place to be nearly all year long. Bring a sweatshirt and a pair of sweatpants if you're worried that your 1 year old will need them once the sun goes down, but most of the year they won't need more than shorts and a t-shirt.
Choose your rides carefully! 1 year olds at Disneyland will probably be fine on rides like Winnie-the-Pooh, Casey Jr. Circus Train, It's A Small World, and Finding Nemo Submarines. Try some of these out first before any of the dark rides, like Pinocchio or Snow White.
When it comes to characters, don't get too close for comfort! A 1 year old visiting Disneyland might really enjoy seeing familiar characters from movies they've seen at home, but only from a distance! Once a character gets too close, many babies around the age of 1 year will get very frightened, and very upset.
Taking your 1 one year old to Disneyland can be a lot of fun. Just be sure to be very prepared for your visit, and to take things slowly.
