Tips for Tanks in Random Dungeons in World of Warcraft

Make Your Dungeon Run and Smooth and Enjoyable Experience for Everyone!

It's no secret that the greatest sources of dissatisfaction in groups for random dungeons is the tank. You'll hear complaints about it being too fast, too slow, not enough taunts - you name it, you'll hear a complaint about it. Here are some tips that will help make tanking go more smoothly and your random dungeon group a successful and happy one.

Allow time for buffs

Before you initiate that first pull, be sure to allow time for players to eat buff foods and cast buffs on the group. If you aren't sure the group is ready, just ask - a simple "Ready?" in party chat will suffice.

Save the huge pulls until you know your group can handle it

You know your own capabilities and that you'll have no problem handling six mobs - but if dps isn't up to par or the healer is a lower level, you'll run into problems. Start slow and then ramp it up as you see how your group handles each pull.

Allow time for looting between pulls

Many players are also trying to obtain WoW gold and crafting items while they are in a dungeon, so allow time between pulls for each member to loot.

Watch the mana of healers and casters

If a group member calls out for mana, stop and wait until they signal they are ready. Be sure to also allow them time to loot after they mana up so they don't feel rushed and/or unappreciated.

Make requests politely

Does the hunter in your group have his pet on aggressive, or is that mage casting before you have a chance to taunt? A simple "please..." followed by your request will go a long way in keeping your group happy and all members present. While you may feel other players should know better and want to respond gruffly, remember that some players are new to dungeons and even old hands can still make mistakes.

Thank the group at the end

This tip isn't just for tanks, everyone in World of Warcraft should remember to be polite and thank the people that helped make the run successful. After all, everyone appreciates hearing they did a good job!

Have fun

If you feel like dungeons are a grind and your feeling frustrated rather than satisfied with your dungeoning experience, maybe it's time to take a break and find other ways to gain XP or just chill out for a while before queueing up for your next dungeon.
