Tips for Task Lighting

Lighting plays very important part in the interior decoration and aesthetic. Poor lighting can adversely affect the worker, employers, or the inhabitants. So utmost care should be taken for selection of correct lighting fittings.

Adequate Lighting
Lighting levels should be such that it neither dark nor too bright. If it is dark your vision will be affected and if it to bright it will give glare effect. So while planning for lighting design the above mentioned points has to taken in mind.

For computer rooms one should use always mirror louver fitting with category I and II where in the cut off angle should be 65 to75 degrees so that the image of light source is not effect the screen. Because people working on computer are required to work for 8 to 10 hours, therefore for the health of the employees have to be considered.

In general office purpose to avoid glare, antiglare lighting fittings can be used. Or use light fittings with diffuser to avoid direct glare on the working plane.

Keep the window and other opening shaded by curtains to avoid bright and glare on the computers screens.

If the task done is very delicate kind it is advisable to use light fitting which can be hung or as required the fitting's height can be adjusted.

In the drafting and drawing rooms along with standard lighting, addition task lighting can be provided near the working plane for better vision.
For display boards lighting should always be provided from behind for better visibility of the messages.

In hotel and restaurants where lighting levels are bear minimal and where privacy is the prime importance you can use indirect lighting.

Similarly kitchen areas use of lightings should be with cover to reduce the fumes affecting the lighting system.

For high lighting paintings, statues and other artifacts use down lighters or wall washer for giving the aesthetic looks as well as to high light the artifacts.

In personnel offices and bosses rooms apart from standard lighting desk to task lighting should be provided with CFL lamps to get proper lighting levels on the working plane. While keeping the desk top task lighting, it should be adjusted in such a fashion that light does not hit the face.

The task lighting is to be put where it is exactly required, the angle of reflection should also be considered while using. The Wattage of lamps in the task lighting also plays very important aspect. As per requirement the lamp of the task light to be used.
