Tips for Teen Body Builders

Many teens these days strive to have a better body. With all the problems with obesity that exist in our culture, staying fit can be a real challenge, but some teens go the extra mile with body building. If you want to be a teen body builder, there are a few things you should keep in mind.

First of all, the growing teenage body is not the same as an adult one and care must be taken when training. The best way for teen body builders to train is one day of working out and one day of rest. This allows the muscles to recover from the workouts. Since you actually build muscle bulk after a workout, the day of rest encourages more muscle growth, too.

Certain supplements like creatine and glucosamine shouldn't be taken by anyone under the age of 16. They already exist in the adolescent body and messing with the balance at this stage of growth can be a bad idea. Needless to say, steroids and testosterone boosters should not be used at all.

Protein supplements are fine for all ages. They can be found in various forms, including bars, powders and ready made shakes, all of which are beneficial to the young bodybuilder. Protein is the building block of the muscle tissue and it also gives short term energy boosts.

Taking a good vitamin supplement is very helpful, whether you are a body builder or not. However, if you are doing intense workouts, you should look for a supplement that is designed specifically for bodybuilders. The toll that weight lifting and intense exercise take on the body makes the teen body builder more susceptible to vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

In fact, nutrition in general is a major part of bodybuilding and if you intend to stick with this sport, you will need to plan your meals carefully. To keep your blood sugar levels up, you will need to eat six to seven small meals per day, spaced about three hours apart. Each meal needs to be carefully planned out.

True bodybuilders know that they need specific nutrients and that their meals need to be efficient. Your choices in what to eat will make or break you. Each meal ought to consist of 40% protein, 40% carbs, and 20% healthy fats. If you follow this diet, you will lose the extra body fat and define your muscles.

Teen bodybuilders may have extra challenges because they are still growing and have hormones running rampant in their bodies, but many teens go on to become professionals later in life. Take care of yourself now and you will do well later.
