First off when you go to orientation don't bring a back because you're not going to school that day, you are just going to be at orientation. This is also not the time to go all out and wear all the school paraphernalia that you own. Calm down because we know that you are excited that you just got into college but it's not necessary, you got accepted and made it.
If you are looking for housing around your campus you should wait another year because you make the most friends being in a dorm. The friends you meet in the dorms are the friends that stay with you. They are going through the same things that you are and they are just as nervous about moving. If your parents are automatically thinking about buying you a house as a gift tell them to hold off on the offer because it won't be fun when you have no sublets to lease too.
Meal plans are simple and fast food is awesome, but this is where college kids earn their "freshman fifteen." In order to avoid the freshman fifteen stop trying to go and eat all the fast food you love in one blow. Try to stick to the diet you had at home.
Sororities and fraternities are great. The instant brother-hood and sister-hood can only be experienced if you try it. There are so many freshman that come in and don't even try to get into Greek life, but if you don't it won't kill you. Only about 10% of college students go into Greek life. Its just a thought.
Intramural sports are fun. There is always a gym on campus, and there is always something to do if your bored. The library at my school stays open 24/7 if you like to study that long, or have to take a happy pill and study all night. There are so many opportunities available to you in college don't let it go to waste. Get involved, study hard, party hard and have fun. Don't let any experience past you because everyone says that college was the best time they've ever had.
Good luck and congratulations on getting accepted!
