TheEntrepreneurDiva
Whether you are are a business professional or a stay at home parent sometimes it feels as if there is not enough time in the day to get everything done. In fact, sometimes we get so bogged down with our tasks that we end up wasting more time than actually using our time as effectively as possible. So I am going to share with you some tips on time management will help you to develop better time management skills.

1. Prioritize your responsibilities.

At the beginning of your day you should always take the time to prioritize your responsibilities. This keeps you from wasting unnecessary time while giving you a blueprint of your daily tasks to stick to.

People like to prioritize in different ways, but for me it works best if I write down all responsibilities that have to be done from high important to low importance. If you are the creative type you may even want to color code your tasks. Red for high importance, blue for medium importance, and green for low importance.

2. Keep all to do lists visible.

What good is a to do list if you can't see it? Don't risk forgetting your most important tasks, keep your to do lists where you can be constantly reminded of what you have to do. For example, if you are a big computer user, put it by your computer screen so that you know that you will see it constantly throughout the day.

3. If you make deadlines, stick to them!

Sometimes during the course of a busy day it can be hard to stick to deadlines, but remember this. Deadlines have a tenancy to cause a chain reaction. When you set your daily deadlines, your tasks follow a pattern. If that pattern is disrupted by a deadline extension, or missed deadline then your other tasks will suffer. You will then more than likely find your self rushing and cramming to make up for the time that has been wasted, or you may even impact the next days duties in a stressful way. So keep it simple and stick to the deadlines that you set.

4. Don't allow yourself to procrastinate.

Procrastination is one of the top reasons for poor time management. And the reason that a lot of people don't know when they are procrastinating is because they don't know the warning signs. If you find yourself saying "I have time, I can just do it later" that is a definite warning sign that you are about to become a procrastinator. When ever you get the urge to do your task at a later time, just get up and do it. Because if not, you are going to end up wasting an extensive amount of time while running out of time for other tasks.

5. Don't let distractions get in your way.

There are always going to be times where you get distracted by something that has the potential to pull you away from your responsibilities. But you have to learn how to avoid or put those distractions off until a later time. Ok, so I guess it is safe to say that this is the only time when procrastination can actually be a good thing.

6. Stay on track with your sell phone.

Although most of us like to use our cell phones to chat and text all day, it is also a great tool for time management. You can use your calendar to plan your day, you can schedule your event reminder to go off when you should be starting each project, and you can even use your alarm as a backup. This is great for those of you that seem to have your phone stuck to your face most of the day, this is something that you are going to pay attention to constantly and it will be easier to stay on track.

Now I know that there are more ways out there that you can use good time management, but these are the easiest and most common ways that I use. And honestly, I don't know what I would do w
