First, what about your luggage? Many people will pack far more than they actually need, which makes their trip a real hassle. Lessening your load doesn't have to be difficult. A few basic things you can do is simply take less with you, or buy products that are specifically made for travelers.
For example, bottles of mouthwash can be bought at very small sizes as can shampoo, conditioner, toothpaste, toothbrushes; etc. If you have neck problems, then take a specially designed neck pillow for some extra comfort. Neck pillows are quite affordable, and they don't take up much room. How many extra pairs of clothing should you pack? Granted you need clothes, but you don't have to pack three extra pairs of socks instead of just one. If all else fails, you can always wash them.
Another obvious way to make traveling easier is to leave a little earlier. This is particularly useful for airports, which can take a very long time to board these days thanks to high security. But even if you're just going by car or train, leaving earlier will make things easier. You don't have to worry as much about being on time because you're early. It's just a little piece of mind that really helps.
You can also create a detailed plan of your trip. What are you going to do on your trip? If you make a plan and stick to it, your trip will go more smoothly. You don't have to plan every single detail, but do try to stick to it for the most part. Planning albeit better might just save you a couple of dollars, among other things.
You should also take along an alternative source of currency, and place it somewhere other then your wallet. This way, if your wallet is lost or stolen, you have something to fall back on. Personally, I recommend that you take a credit or debit card and traveler's checks on your trip. Nobody can use traveler's checks but you, and credit or debit cards will almost certainly charge you nothing for fraudulent use. I don't recommend cash, of course, because there's no coverage for it. If your cash is stolen, you can't get it back.
If you fully utilize these tips, your next trip should be a lot easier. More importantly, you might discover that you have the time to actually enjoy yourself. So have a blast!
