A lot of people go swimming in Miami Beach. Perhaps this is a good place to take a dip into the water but I wouldn't considering many different problems. The first time I traveled to Miami Beach, my mom and I almost got swept out to sea with the rip current. Sometimes there will be a very strong rip current in the ocean. If you ever get stuck in a rip current, make sure that you swim towards shore diagonally. My mother had to have a man come out and get her because she couldn't swim any longer. A rip current will slowly pull you out further and further if you swim straight towards shore. I would never go swimming on days that you know the rip current will be strong.
Another reason I won't go swimming is the fish. My dad was fishing next to me while I was swimming and all of the heads off of the fish were eaten. If there is a fish big enough to strip the head off of a good size fish, I do not want to be in the water. Plus, there is a problem with jelly fish as well. If you ever get stung by a jelly fish you will be in horrible pain. They will usually not let people in the water if there is a jelly fish problem coming to shore. Since you cannot see what you are swimming with you will need to be very cautious of jellyfish.
When you are driving around Miami Beach, never stop for people you do not know. The crime rate here is very high and people will steal your vehicle. Never stop if there is somebody on the side of the road. Drive around with your windows up and your doors locked. Never walk around the beach at night because a lot of people will get robbed walking around the beach or streets at night. Remember that if you ever go to Miami Beach you need to be very cautious of everything if you want to come back home safe.

Post a CommentI was born here and no it is not dangerous! I'm a beautiful 33 year old chick. The ocean is actually safer than land. As for the driving, you're generalizing. People everywhere do and don't know how to drive. And the beauty of anywhere in Miami Beach, there is not traffic. It's a beautiful, tropical place full of flavor and crystal clear blue water. The best city in the US! Come and Enjoy!
Thanks, Debbie Downer!
I vacation in Miami Beach twice a year. Sometimes I rent a car, and other times I cab it everywhere. This is a city, and like most cities, there is traffic. Jellyfish? Seems like the purple flag is out most days in October and March (when I'm in Miami Beach), but I swim anyway, and have never been bitten. I go for a nightly walk on the boardwalk and have never encountered any trouble. Thanks for the dire warning, though.
Driving in Miami is a nightmare. I've driven in many citites all over the US and all over the world. I've never seen so many people drive recklessly. Passing lanes apparently = slow lanes and the outside lane = lane for speeding in. I know, I had to drive from Tampa to Coral Gables yesterday. Didn't see one patrol car the whole time I was there.. I guess they don't have highway patrol in Miami. I mean, they can't pull over everyone!
Never again.
You've made some very good points, but most of them could apply to any big city and/or beach. Depending on the season, you can find in any US beach: rip currents, jelly-fish, dead-fish. Crime: it's good to exercise common sense in most large US cities, and not just Miami. Sorry your stay wasn't truly spectacular, but you shouldn't give up on Miami Beach, go in the low-tourist season, and you'll have a great time! Cheers!
sorry, but you don't really have the true picture of my town...yes, you have some good points but not the real city and what it has to offer...sorry you had such a bad experience here, hope you come back..;)
