Tips for Traveling with Valuables

Christopher Bibey
If you are traveling it is very important to only take the necessary valuables with you. A good rule of thumb is, if you don't need it, don't take it! This goes for all valuables, including extra card cards.

Below are a few tips that you can follow in order to ensure that your valuables are kept safe.

1. Instead of carrying around loads of cash and credit cards, use traveler's checks and only take along one or two credit cards.

2. If you are staying at a hotel, lock all of your valuables in the room safe. Even though everybody thinks it cannot happen to them, there are hotel employees that will pick up your valuables if given the chance. If you must take valuables with you, be sure to keep them in your inside pockets or around your waist. Never carry your wallet in your back pocket. Believe it or not, there are thieves that look for unsuspecting tourists who are not paying attention.

3. If you must use an ATM machine, be sure to only take small amounts of money out at a time. You do not want to risk somebody seeing you withdrawal a large amount of cash.

4. And do your best to not stand out as a tourist. Tourists are the easiest targets because they are not aware of their surroundings, and often carry a lot of money on them.

If you follow these guidelines you should have no problem keeping your valuables safe while traveling.
