Tips and Tricks to Collecting Ingredients in Restaurant City for Facebook

Brandon Miller
Restaurant City for Facebook is a fun place to explore and try your hand at running your own restaurant. Of course, what is a restaurant without ingredients to make dishes for your customers to enjoy? There are several ways to acquire these food items. Here is a guide on how to get free ingredients, trade with your friends, or purchase them from the market.

How to get Free Ingredients

Some ingredients are easy to acquire and require little to no effort. Each restaurant owner is granted one random ingredient each day. When your new item is added to your inventory, a message will appear to let you know what you have received.

You will also get the opportunity to win an ingredient by taking the daily food quizzes. Check your Restaurant City mailbox everyday. Each quiz features one questions and three possible answers. If you get the answer correct, you will be granted one food item. If you are wrong, you get nothing. The quiz will be timed so be sure that you answer quickly.

Tip #1 - You food quizzes will stay in your mailbox until you decide to take them. You do not have to complete them on the day that they are received. Hang onto them and ask a friend to help you take several quizzes all at once. You will likely increase your chances by having a 'second opinion' before selecting an answer.

The first time you visit a Facebook friend's restaurant, you will get one free ingredient. Friends who already play Restaurant City will automatically become your friends when you join. If you are just starting out, this is a great way to get lots of food really fast.

Tip #2 - When your existing Facebook friends add the Restaurant City app, they will become your friends without you being notified. You should periodically check your Restaurant City friends list for new additions so you don't miss out on free food items.

Trading with your Restaurant City Friends

Sometimes you will need specific ingredients to finish learning a recipe. One approach to getting the ingredients that you need is offering one of your items in exchange for one that your friend has. When visiting a friend's restaurant, you can trade by clicking on the trade ingredients button. Your friends may choose to have some of their ingredients locked. Locked items cannot be traded without approval from your friend. To propose a trade, click on the trade locked ingredient button and submit your request.

Tip # 3 - Sometimes it is difficult to get your friends to trade with you. If you desperately need a certain item, consider offering your friend an ingredient with a higher star level. For example, offer chicken (3-star) for rice (2-star). While this approach may help complete a trade quickly, don't make it a habit.

You can also broadcast your need to your Facebook friends. To do this, click on the megaphone icon above your ingredient list on the change menu screen. This allows you to show all of your friends simultaneously which three foods you need the most.

Tip #4 - The ingredient broadcast also has a small section for additional notes. Make a quick note of the ingredients that you are willing to swap for the items that you need. It may give your friends incentive to agree on a trade.

Purchasing Ingredients from the Market

You can also purchase ingredients from the Restaurant City ingredient market. There are always three random foods available. Every day, the ingredients are changed out for a new set. Of course, this should be your last resource. There is no sense in paying for something that you could possibly get for free.

Collecting many ingredients is vital to your success in Restaurant City. The important thing is to be smart and rely on your Facebook friends. Hopefully, this guide will help you get the items that you need quickly and efficiently.
