Tips for Planting and Harvesting in FarmVille

Planting and harvesting crops in FarmVille is the most important aspect of the game. By raising crops and selling them, you will earn coins that can be used to purchase more crops, animals, and buildings for your farm. In order to plant regular crops, you must first plow the a patch of ground. Click on the green plow tool and point anywhere on your farm to plow (Note: It costs 15 coins each time you plow an area). You can only plow open areas on your farm. If the plow box is red, you must pick a different location. Move your mouse until the box turns green. Once the ground has been plowed, click on the area to visit the FarmVille market. Look through the available seeds, and make your selection. Once the crops have grown, simply click on the finished crops to collect your earnings.

Tip - There are two general types of crops - plants and trees. Plants are cheaper to buy and yield higher payments. However, they can only be harvested one time before the land has to be plowed again and replanted. Trees are more expensive and have lower coin payments. However, they are permanent and will yield an infinite number of harvests without being replanted. Also, plants will spoil if they are not harvested in a short period after becoming ripe. Fruit from trees, on the other hand, does not spoil.

Tip - The most important trick is to purchase and plant crops that will bring the greatest number of coins. Learning to invest your coins well, will bring great fortune quickly. To determine which crop will yield the greatest pay, use this formula: (Selling Price) - (Cost of Seeds) - ($15 plow charge) ¸ (Number of Days to Harvest). This will give you the daily income for that crop. Choose the crop with the largest daily income.

Tip - To see how close your crops are to being ready for harvest, hover your mouse pointer over the area to see what crop is planted and what percentage is complete.

FarmVille Animals Tips

Not only do animals in FarmVille add character to your Facebook farm, they can also be a great source of revenue. Like trees, animals provide a permanent steady income with your purchase.

Tip - Don't spend to much money on purchasing animals for you farm. They are fairly expensive and don't generate much daily income, Animals are often gifted by Facebook friends and they occasionally wander onto your farm. A message will appear on your screen letting you know when a lost animal has wandered onto your property. You will be given the option to adopt them.

Your FarmVille Neighbors

Your Farmville neighbors will be your best allies in the game. Acquire neighbors by sending requests and adding your Facebook friends. There are several benefits to having neighbors. First, some items in the market require a certain number of neighbors to purchase. You can also visit other Facebook farms and help with chores to earn experience points and coins. The game also allows you to send and receive gifts from your Facebook friends. This is a great way to get lots of crops, trees, and animals for free.

Tip - Click on the My Neighbors tab to see which of your Facebook friends already play the game. Scroll down the page to see their FarmVille level, send gifts, and add as a neighbor. If you have already invited all of your Facebook friends who already play the game, click on the Invite Friends tab to send invites to non-playing friends.
