Tips and Tricks to FishVille for Facebook

Brandon Miller
FishVille for Facebook is a fun aquarium-based game that lets players purchase eggs, feed and care for dozens of tropical fish species, and earn coins by selling them. To progress through the game, Facebook players must earn coins and experience points by cleaning their tank, raising and selling fish, and helping out their FishVille neighbors. Here are some tips and tricks to help you get ahead in the game.

Tips and Tricks to Purchasing the Right Fish

Selecting the right fish is probably the most important tricks to being successful in FishVille. Some grow quickly and yield small payments. Other fish, especially those unlocked in later levels, take several days to reach adulthood, but have a huge payoff.

Tip - When selecting the fish for your tank, take the time to consider how long they will live without your attention. Fish can live without being fed for twice as long as it takes them to complete one growth cycle. For example, if a fish has a growth cycle of one day, it will be able to live for two days without being fed.

Tip - Hover your mouse over the tank icon in the top right corner of your screen to see how many fish your tank can hold. As you progress through the levels, you will be able to upgrade the size of your tank.

Tips and Tricks to Raising and Selling Fish

Once you have purchased your fish, you will need to care for them until they have reached adulthood. Each fish has five growth levels (one baby stage and four adult stages). During the first growth stage (baby), fish cannot be sold. However, they can be sold during any adult level.

Tip - Your fish becomes worth more coins and experience points with each growth stage. For maximum payoff, wait until they have fully matured.

Tip - Filling your tank with the same species of fish will help you keep track of their growth levels. This is easier than trying to track the status on several different species.

Tips and Tricks to Caring for and Decorating your Tank

In addition to taking care of your fish, you will also need to keep your FishVille tank clean. When your aquarium is dirty, green algae spots will show up on the glass wall. Simply click on the spot to scrub it clean. You can also decorate your tank by purchasing special items from the market.

Tip - Not every decorative item is available for purchase through the store. Some special items can only be received as gifts from your Facebook friends.

FishVille Neighbors

While adding your Facebook friends as neighbors in FishVille is not required for playing the game. There are many benefits to adding as many as possible. Gifting is one of the greatest benefits to having lots of FishVille neighbors. This feature allows you to sent and receive free items from your Facebook friends. You can also earn coins and experience points by visiting your friends' tanks, and helping them out.

Tip - To find out which of your Facebook friends already play FishVille, click on the My Neighbors tab. This will give you a list of all of your friends. The ones who already play FishVille will have their game stats listed beside their name.

FishVille for Facebook is another great game from Zynga, the makers of FarmVille and Mafia Wars. Whether you are new to online gaming or a veteran player, FishVille is sure to please. Hopefully, this guide will give you some tips and tricks to dominating the digital fish-raising world.
