Tips for Turning Cheap Christmas Decorations into Expensive Ones

Shannon Frye
Christmas decorations can be quite costly. Even the plain decorations will cost you an arm and a leg. When you can't afford to purchase hundreds of really expensive bulbs for your Christmas tree you can always purchase the inexpensive decorations and make them look like expensive decorations. You will spend around $4.00 on the average box of Christmas Bulbs for your tree. Some of them you can get cheaper if you don't purchase bulbs with glitter or ribbon.

You will want to go to the store and purchase average cheap decorations or bring up some decorations which are all one color that were inexpensive. You will want to purchase different colors and types of glitter, ribbon and glue which you can use on decorations. You will want to use a type of glue which will hold the glitter and ribbon but it will also dry fast as well. If you can find any ribbon which comes with glue on it, that would be the best choice. You can also use rubber cement and then sprinkle the glitter on the thin coat that you place on the decoration.

You can purchase many different types and colors of ribbon and glitter. If you go to a craft store you can get really good deals on these items. You can decorate all of your bulbs for close to nothing. You would spend a lot more money purchasing more decorative bulbs. This is a fun little craft that you can do yourself and practice with. You can even purchase clear decorations and hand paint them to say things such as Merry Christmas or Baby's First Christmas. There is an endless amount of things that you can add on to your decorations.

This is a fun and inexpensive craft that will get everybody into the Christmas spirit. Just make sure that you don't press on the bulbs too hard or they will break. Have plenty of towels available to wipe off the glitter and glue. Don't expect the first few decorations to be perfect, the hardest part is finding glue that won't look bad yet it will hold glitter and ribbon well. Make sure to use just a little bit of glue so that there isn't a large drop of glue that runs down the decoration. You can also use something to smooth out the glue but make sure to add the glitter before the glue drys. You can also use some type of a glitter gun which will automatically stick to the bulbs surface.
