Keep in mind that mirrors come in all shapes and sizes. Make sure that you consider the interior of your room and get mirrors that will go with the other décor. You should also hang your mirrors at shoulder height and putting another mirror directly across from that one will create a very spacious interior. When the light reflects off of the mirrors it will make your room look bigger.
You can also use decorative mirrors to dress up any room. Get fancier ones for the rooms you wish to dress up. Use plain mirrors in rooms that you just want to add a different look.
Tips for making good use of your mirrors
Find mirrors that fit in with the rest of the décor of the room. Do not get overly elaborate ones for a casual environment and likewise, get fancy ones for a more formal room.
Be sure that you always clean your mirrors on a regular basis. Use a cleaner and a soft rag to get the fingerprints off them if there are any and also to remove dust. Dust will collect on mirrors so you will need to clean them on a regular basis.
Do a total cleaning of your mirrors twice a year. Take them down and clean the frame and mirror part very well and dust behind them and wash down the wall, too. This will keep your surroundings looking great.
Adding more mirrors can never hurt when you are trying to create space. It will give an added spaciousness to the room. Try scattering them or placing them on the ceiling, too. This will really open up a room.
Do not throw broken or old mirrors out. Use them in the center of tables for centerpieces and other interesting pieces. If they are cracked or broken, you can add feathers or other items to the broken pieces to cover up the shattered parts.
Try not to use mirrors around bad drywall, ceilings that are in disrepair or other faults in a room. Have these fixed before you use mirrors because it will call attention to the faults in the indoor spots of your home.
Some people do use mirrors on the lower part of their walls, but it is not recommended for safety reason, especially if you have children. Stay safe by putting them at shoulder height throughout your home.
The use of mirrors has always been a great decorative item for a home. You can find plenty of them in department stores or by looking on the computer. Asking for mirrors as gifts is another great way to accumulate different looking ones that will add to your home décor.
