Even if you don't feel like driving to the beach, why not try the local zoo? That is very educational no matter what age learning the animals. While you are walking around why not tell your child the sound that animal makes and have they repeat it. This will teach them the animals and their sounds. They will really enjoy any animal no matter where you go. And if you look around there are many little water/amusement parks around that have a pretty decent selection for younger children to play in. I know in the Eastern Pennsylvania area we have Hershey Park, Dorney Park, and a few other little parks to choose from. Just do a search in your area and I'm sure you will find something to do with your children when the weather is nice.
