Splashtown
Several miles north of downtown Houston, Splashtown is a sprawling water park with dozens of rides that will excite kids of all ages. They are constantly adding new rides and features, so nearly every trip to the park is different. Whether your teenager wants to rip the waves on one of the ultra-fast water slides, or just laze around the wave pool and work on a tan, Splashtown is the perfect place to visit. The park gets very busy in the summer, packed with teenagers looking for some fun in the sun, so your teen is sure to make some new friends!
The Galleria
The Galleria is a huge shopping venue in West Houston with hundreds of stores, ranging from standard department stores to upscale designer boutiques. So your young shopaholic will have a blast darting from store to store, enjoying all there is to see in this vast mall. There are dozens of great restaurants as well and even an ice skating rink on the ground level!
The Theatre District
If your teenager digs the artsy scene, the Houston Theatre District is a can't-miss stop! The Alley Theatre, the Hobby Center, the Wortham Center, and Jones Hall all offer year round productions of some of the most popular plays and musicals in the world. The district is centrally located in downtown Houston and surrounded by unique restaurants and shops, so prepare your teen to have some fun seeing a great show and enjoying some great food!
The Museum District
Granted, not all teenagers are into museums, but if your budding artist wants to see some of the most incredible art exhibits in the country, you'll have to swing by the Houston Museum District. Near downtown, the museum district offers fine art, modern art, sculpture, the holocaust museum, the children's museum, and countless independent art galleries. Kindle your teen's creative streak in this magical artistic borough of the city.
Catch a Flick
There are lots of great places in Houston to see a movie, but the most fun and unique venue has to be the Angelica Theatre in downtown. Part of a bigger entertainment complex known as Bayou Center, the Angelica offers a great selection of off-beat independent films, as well as all the biggest blockbusters. The restaurants and shopping surrounding the theatre in the Bayou Center make this a movie-going experience unlike any other!
These are just a few of the great things there are to see and do in Houston for kids of all ages. With so much to see and do, your teenager will certainly never be bored in Houston!
