Gold is the hot color in makeup for 2011. Gilded faces have shown up from the runway to the red carpet this year. However, there is no better time to wear gold makeup than the summer since it instantly adds a warm radiance to virtually any skin tone. Even though gold is in for 2011 some may fear they will look like a clown attempting to wear this glamorous color. Here are easy to use formulas for simple ways to wear gold makeup and some tips on how to get the high-impact looks.

A Gilded Face Looks Radiant

Gold powder is the easiest way to add golden warmth to your face. It is best to use a face powder with gold in it. For summer it is best to go with a bronzing powder to give yourself a fake tan and golden glow at one shot. The best thing about going this route is you stand less of a chance of looking like a carrot or orange from using a sunless tanner.

How to wear it: Prime face with a tinted moisturizer or light foundation that contains sunscreen. Then lightly dust face with your gold infused bronzing powder for an all over glow. To highlight the face for a slightly bolder look, lightly sweep gold face powder across your T-zone and the apples of your cheeks.

Make Eyes Glimmer in Golden Radiance

Gold eye makeup is the most dramatic way to wear gold this year. Golden eyes make a bold impact whether worn pale, smoky or with high voltage shine. Gold eyeshadow is the trend for the year. However, you don't have to cover your entire lid with it. Use gold eyeshadow as a highlighter for the brow bone or an accent for bolder looks. For more subtlety, choose colors like brown, pink or rose that have a golden shimmer to them.

Also, you can line your eyes with gold eyeliner. Lining the lower lash line in gold looks best. If you want a smoky eye, choose an eyeliner pencil. For a controlled thick or thin line, use a liquid liner instead. Don't forget those lashes! Mascara now comes with gold dust mixed in to give your lashes a golden sparkle.

How to wear it: Want a high voltage eye? Select a wet/dry eyeshadow in a deep violet shade and one in gold. Wet your sponge applicator and apply the gold shadow from the inner corner of the eye upward toward the brow bone. Next take the violet shadow apply it dry to the rest of the lid for a bold look that combines both matte and high shine. Finish with gold eyeliner on the lower lash line and gold infused mascara. Apply two to three coats of mascara to make lashes appear longer and fuller.

Gilded Lips Make A Bold Statement

It's no doubt that 24-carat hued lip color will look very costume-ish or even mod on some skin tones. Let's face it, pale lips can look scary at times, especially to those who are preparing for a zombie outbreak. However, gold infused shades of mauve, bronze, coral, and other commonly worn lip color shades are available if you like a golden shimmer.

How to wear it: For bold, gilded lips, try this trick. The boldest lip that works for most skin tones is to wear you favorite shade of lipstick and apply a gold lip-gloss over it for a high-impact, golden shine. For an added burst of golden splendor, dip the tip of your pinky finger into some gold face powder or gold eyeshadow and tap the powder at the center of your upper and lower lip.
