Tips for Weight Loss

There are many variations of a weight loss program. It can be an extremely elaborate diet plan, with specific food intake requirements during specific times of the day, or it could be a very simple cardio workout routine. Which ever category your weight loss plan belongs to, there are certain things one needs to keep in mind while designing a weight loss plan. These are some of the tips that can help formulate your ultimate weight loss plan.

1) Reduce your calorie intake. Your calorie intake should be less than your energy expenditure during your day-to-day activities.

2) You need to maintain proper hydration levels in your body. Drink plenty of water. This ensures that you can perform at your optimum level.

3) Do some kind of aerobic activity 5 times a day on a consistent basis. This helps burn the excess energy stored as fat in the body. The key to losing fat through exercise is consistency.

4) Rev up your body's metabolism by consuming smaller meals spread out through out the day. This also ensures that you are full through out the day and so are less likely to cheat.

Fat can be burned if the food that is consumed does not provide the body with the necessary energy to perform its essential internal functions as well as the external activities that we demand it to perform. This scenario causes the body to burn the excess fat and use it as fuel.

Trying to lose weight by just reducing the calorie intake can be very counterproductive. This method is similar to starvation and you are more prone to cheating if you are starving on a continuous basis. You also feel more cranky and hungry which could cause you to give up on your resolution altogether.

For this reason, you will have to increase your exercise levels, which makes you lose fat without having to resort to starvation diets, which can only result in ill effects to your body.

Contrary to popular belief, your body burns fat more efficiently if it is nourished on a frequent basis. For that reason, it is advised that you consume around six to seven small meals a day instead of the three big meals that we are all used to.

One more thing you need to keep in mind is that there is no such thing as spot reduction. Your body burns fat in equivalent magnitude through out the body instead of one single body part. So don't be disappointed if you don't see immediate results in your most problematic area. Be consistent and results will eventually come through.

These are the very basic rules that one needs to follow to successfully lose weight and keep it off. Not following these rules is equivalent to a ticket for failure.
