Beauty pageant winners will have put in a lot of hard work beforehand.

There are certain tricks, techniques and rules to follow to get you through to the beauty pageant finals. The following advice comes from a real beauty queen.

Tips and Tricks

It is essential to remove all unnecessary body hair before the beauty pageant elimination round or interview. Do this a few days beforehand to make sure none of the hair grows back and to give your skin chance to settle down if it is irritated by waxing. The bikini line, upper lip, legs and armpits are very important to depilate. It is also very important to take care when choosing your costume. Make sure that the color of your gown or swimsuit flatters your hair and skin color and tones.

The traditional model stance is the best way to stand if you are worried about looking awkward. Put your front foot at twelve o'clock, your rear foot at ten and place your front knee forward. If you adopt this position, your waist will appear thinner and your legs will be flattered. Take care not to overdo the beading and crystals on your gown.

Another common error is to wear too much make up or stack your hair too high or have it too big. Earthy tones are usually the best for your cosmetics. Never cake on more make up than you need. Your hairstyle can be beautiful without being enormous.

Study other beauty pageants. Pay close attention to the gowns and make up worn by past winners and listen to their interview answers. Try to spot mistakes made and learn from those. With a mixture of good looks, determination and study, you can seriously raise your chances of becoming the next beauty pageant winner.
