Tips for Winning EBay and Listia Auctions

How to Win it All

Crystal Ray
I do most of my shopping online, and I regularly use sites including eBay and Listia when trying to find bargains. I am not an eBay seller, but I give away items that I no longer want or need on Listia. Auctioning off items on Listia receive credits instead of cash, and I use my accumulated credits to bid on rings, bracelets and other items that catch my eye. Over the years I have learned a few tips and tricks for winning auctions, and I am willing to share my strategies. Winning auctions on eBay and Listia can be a lot of fun, and it can be quite profitable. I have gained far more than I have lost or given away.

Determine Your Bid Limit

When finding something of interest on eBay, Listia or another auction site, determine your bid limit before ever getting started. People get carried away with auctions, and they end up paying far more than items are worth. Some people are intent on winning no matter how much they have to pay. What is it worth to you?

Do Your Homework Before Bidding on Auctions

Winning is not everything, especially if something is not worth the amount paid. It all depends upon what you want. When trying to get a bargain, do your homework before bidding. Do not wait until auctions are ending before searching the values of specific items unless the monetary value does not really matter. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

Take Notes on Current and Upcoming Auctions

Keeping track of auctions can be a full time job. When looking for tips on winning auctions, take detailed notes. Keep a notebook that includes the dates and times that auctions of interest will end. The end matters the most. Those that bid early on in the game do a disservice to everyone but the sellers. They are usually inexperienced bidders, and they do not end up winning. No one does since they simply drive up the cost of winning auctions to ridiculous amounts.

Learn How to Snipe

I do not bid days or even hours before auctions end just because I like something. Winning takes planning and strategy. I save my favorite auctions, and I snipe within the last ten seconds. I bid as high as I am willing to go at the very end. I follow my own rules, and when I lose, I really do not lose anything.

I have only been a member on Listia for about a week. I have shipped a bunch of stuff. But I get outbid on everything I bid on. Getting discouraged. I need to get something back for all I am spending on shipping.
Getting discouraged. I know some people win things, judging by the 20 or more items I have mailed in the last two day, but I sure am not the one who is winning.
thanks for the tips. I don't have a lot of time to monitor auctions, since I sell on eBay, Listia, Etsy and a few other places, plus work and make a lot of the things I sell.
Guess if I will one it WILL be pure luck. But if I don't win one soon I will just quit listing stuff.
    thanks for the tips
