Tips for Writing a Great Fan Mail Letter

Amy Gayle
Many times, people send fan mail to celebrities and then they waste their days away waiting to hear back from them. Many times, the fan club will send you some standard reply, etc. You need to realize that celebrities receive hundreds and thousands of fan letters and it's nearly impossible to read them all. Here are some tips to getting your best possible chance of a response!

-Make sure the address you have is correct and the most current one available. Many times, agents, managers, and offices change! It's very important to keep that information up to date.

-Hand write your letters and make sure you write legibly. A hand written letter is obviously more personal and less likely to be spam or mass produced. Remember to write clearly. Nothing stinks more than having to try and figure out what a person has written, it will be easily tossed aside.

-Don't write a book. Keep it short and sweet. They'll be more likely to pick up a short letter that is brief and to the point.

-Consider sending your letter in a brightly colored envelope. It draws more attention to your letter than all of those plain white envelopes.

-Make sure you include a self addressed stamped envelope. That increases your chances of getting a response for several reasons, you've done the work for them by addressing the envelope, it will come to the right address, and you've saved them money with your own envelope and stamp!

-If you're writing to someone super famous, don't expect a response. You're more likely to get a response from someone that isn't quite so famous that they have absolutely no time. Someone that is working on their fame, they are still excited by their fan mail.

As I said before, don't run to your mailbox everyday hoping for a reply. Your best bet is to just send it off and just be thankful that they might read it. Even though some celebrities are overwhelmed by fan mail, they are so thankful for their fans. Some may not show that, but without you, they wouldn't be where they are today.
