Tire pressure valve and the tire valve stem caps play a very important role in helping to maintain the pressure of tires. They are part and parcel of the four components of tire maintenance. These being tire pressure, vehicle alignment, tire rotation and tire tread. The valve is the device that permits air to inflate the tire and the valve which is one directional helps to hold air inside the tire. The valve is essentially a component that comes with the tire and is generally made of rubber material. It can deteriorate over a period of time and reduce its effectiveness in maintaining the air pressure in the tire. During high speed driving, a tire valve that is defective can bend as a result of centrifugal force and thus result in air loss. Care should be taken to replace such valves when new tires are bought. Tire pressure valve is manufactured by numerous companies worldwide and there are many Chinese manufacturers as well. An automatic shut off valve for tires has been designed. This has dual stem valves attached to either the outside or inside the rim of the tire. One stem serves as an air valve for inflating tires with a metal or plastic line attached to it extending into the second stem, which is a valve that regulates air pressure in the tire. Air supplied during inflation causes a linkage to move and open a vent to the atmosphere which was otherwise closed. A valve laden with spring is contrived to open when the air pressure in the tire exceeds the optimum operating pressure and to allow excess air to escape into the atmosphere.
There are so many innovations added to tire pressure valve which only shows its importance in relation to tire manufacture and the necessity to provide a mechanism which ensures safety while driving as well as enhancing tire life.
