Tired of Getting Cuts and Nicks When Shaving?

Lchaim
It took me about 40 years to be able to find the right razor, shaving technique, and shaving lotion to get nearly perfect shaves every time. If you're old enough you might remember the commercial where the guy did the "credit card test" against his face to see how close a shave he got. My way of shaving passes the "credit card test" each time.

I've never gotten close shaves from an electric and after years of trying a number of blade razors, including the Schick Quattro and the new Gillette Fusion, I'm still hooked on the older Gillette Mach3 Turbo. While the Fusion is a good razor, it seems difficult to get those hairs right below and to the side of the nose. The next step is to make sure you shave in the shower and make this the last step when you shower! The steam is great, actually essential, for softening the stubble! You might want to invest in fogless mirror for the shower. It's definitely worth it!

What I'm about to say as the next step is not an advertisement for this product. I don't sell it, but I received a free sample of this shaving lotion a few years ago and have been hooked on it ever since. It's called the Total Shaving Solution. It is not inexpensive although a small 1.25 ounce bottle lasts me for months. It's available from www.allaboutshaving.com/ The bottles cost $15+ shipping but you only use 3 drops per shave so it will last you a LONG time; Now after using this for about 3 years I found a much less expensive product called "Shave Secret" in WalMart for half the price; After using the two side by side for the past 6 months, the TSS wins out. This solution doesn't contain any alcohol and while there is a menthol scent to it, it does not burn. This stuff is absolution essential to a close and clean shave and no shaving cream or gel I've ever used comes anywhere close to the effectiveness.

With your face wet, put three drops in the palm of one of your hands, rub your hands together, and then massage into your face. Put a bit more water on your face. My technique is always start shaving down first, and then shave up. I use one hand to hold my skin taut while my other hand is drawing the razor up. Make sure you rinse the razor often. If you feel that your face is starting to dry, just splash a bit more water on it to keep it wet. Because the hairs on your face grow in different directions, I not only draw the razor down and up, but while holding the skin tight I will also shave across, especially on my neck.

When finished shaving, rinse off your face in the hot water and you'll walk out of the shower with the closest shave you've ever experienced, without the nicks and cuts you may have experienced in the past.

I always have a container of styptic powder on hand for when I trim my dog's nails. If I accidentally cut into the cuticle, the styptic powder stops the bleeding (fortunately, I haven't had to use it yet, but I've seen pet groomers use it, and it seems to work great).

There's a "Her" version as well. My wife waited about 2 years. I kept telling her to try mine and when she finally did she came out of the shower and said, "WOW!" She hasn't used shaving creams or gels since then! The "Hers" version of that stuff has less menthol scent to it. But being in the shower is essential because the steam really helps soften up the stubble. If you go that place's web site, you can order a $2.00 sample. If you like it, they'll take the $2.00 off your first order.
    Thanks for the comments! :-)
